AFTERCARE
Volumising Treatment Aftercare
Our commitment to your care extends well beyond your appointment. We want you to feel informed, comfortable and supported throughout your recovery. The guidance below is designed to assist healing, minimise potential side effects and support optimal treatment outcomes following volume and contour treatments.
For the most refined results, please follow the aftercare instructions carefully. These recommendations are intended to reduce swelling, support appropriate product integration and allow your results to settle naturally in harmony with your facial features.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER
What to Expect:
It is common to experience mild redness, swelling or tenderness following treatment. Small raised areas or bumps at the injection sites are normal and reflect product placement. Mild to moderate discomfort may occur and typically settles within hours to days.
..
The next 24-72 hrs
What to Expect:
Swelling and bruising may peak during this period before gradually improving. Bruising is more common in sensitive areas such as the lips and under eye region and may last up to ten days, occasionally longer. Treated areas may feel firm, tender or uneven as the product begins to settle. These sensations are expected and typically resolve as swelling reduces.

results & maintenance
What to Expect:
Results continue to refine as swelling subsides and the product integrates with surrounding tissue. Most patients see their final aesthetic outcome within three to four weeks, depending on the area treated and the product used.
Longevity varies, but volume and contour treatments may last approximately twelve to eighteen months, depending on individual anatomy, facial movement patterns, metabolism, product selection and lifestyle factors.
Follow up appointments are not routinely scheduled before three weeks post treatment, as swelling and product integration continue during the early healing phase. Reviewing too early may increase the risk of asymmetry or unnecessary intervention. Where required, follow up appointments are ideally performed between four and five weeks post treatment to allow results to stabilise and be assessed accurately. Earlier review may be arranged only following discussion with The Manor Clinic or in the event of a medical concern.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE GUIDANCE
To support optimal healing, minimise potential side effects and help achieve the best possible results, please follow the guidance below.
Cold Compress Cold compresses may be applied for up to ten minutes at a time, up to three times per hour if needed. Compresses should be applied intermittently using short on and off intervals and must never be applied directly to the skin. Ice should always be wrapped to avoid skin injury.
Activity and Lifestyle Considerations Avoid alcohol on the day of treatment and in the days following, as it may increase the likelihood of bruising. Remain upright for at least four hours following your appointment. Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat exposure, saunas and very hot showers for at least seventy two hours.
It is advised to avoid air travel for one to four days following treatment, as flying may increase swelling or bruising. Please advise The Manor Clinic if travel is planned, particularly if travelling to destinations where medical oversight or access to care may be limited.
Skin Care and Physical Contact Do not touch, rub or apply pressure to the treated areas for six to eight hours.
Avoid lying face down and keep your head elevated where possible. Sleeping with additional pillows may assist in reducing swelling. We also recommend changing your pillowcase following treatment.
Avoid applying makeup for twenty four hours to minimise the risk of infection.
Do not massage, apply heavy pressure or perform vigorous rubbing over treated areas for at least forty eight hours unless specifically advised by your practitioner. In some cases, massage may need to be avoided for longer periods, so it is important to confirm individual guidance with your practitioner. Gentle shower massage should only be performed if specifically advised by your practitioner.
Cosmetic and Skin Treatments Facials, facial waxing, IPL, laser treatments and glycolic or AHA peels should be avoided for two weeks following treatment unless otherwise discussed with your practitioner.
Supporting Skin Health Maintaining adequate hydration and using a daily broad spectrum SPF 50+ may assist in supporting skin health and treatment outcomes. Maintaining healthy zinc levels may support normal cellular repair and healing processes; however, evidence linking zinc supplementation directly to improved longevity of injectable treatments is limited. You should speak with your general practitioner or healthcare provider before commencing any supplement to ensure it is appropriate for you.
FAQs
-
It is common to experience mild and temporary effects following dermal filler treatments. These responses are part of the normal healing process and typically improve gradually over the days to weeks following treatment.
You may notice:Swelling Bruising
Small red needle marks
Mild itching at the injection sites
Tenderness
Temporary lumpiness or firmness
Mild asymmetry as the product settles
The appearance of lumps or bumps is common in the early post-treatment period. This occurs as the product integrates with the surrounding tissue and is considered a normal part of the settling process. Areas such as the jawline, cheeks and smile lines are more prone to this due to the density and structure of the product used to support and mimic natural anatomy. These areas typically soften and improve naturally over three to four weeks.
Following treatment, the body enters a normal inflammatory and healing phase. Allowing time for these natural processes to occur is an important part of recovery. We understand that this period can feel psychologically challenging, particularly while swelling or unevenness is present, and our team is here to provide reassurance and guidance. In many cases, time and natural healing are the most appropriate course of action rather than early intervention.
If you have concerns at any stage, or if symptoms worsen after seventy two hours rather than begin to improve, please contact the clinic. Your practitioner can assess your individual response and advise whether a follow up or further management is required -
It is normal to notice temporary unevenness or asymmetry in the early stages following volume and contour treatment. This can occur as swelling resolves and the product integrates with the surrounding tissue. For this reason, we recommend allowing the full four weeks for results to stabilise before assessing the final outcome.
Review appointments are not routinely scheduled before three weeks post treatment, as early assessment may increase the risk of unnecessary intervention. Where required, reviews are ideally performed around four to five weeks, once swelling has settled and results can be accurately evaluated.
If, after this time, you still have concerns, your practitioner can assess your individual response and discuss whether refinement or further management is clinically appropriate. -
Results from volume and contour treatments develop progressively rather than immediately. Initial swelling typically settles over the first one to two weeks, with results continuing to refine as the product integrates with the surrounding tissue. Most patients see their final aesthetic outcome within two to four weeks, depending on the area treated and the product used.
Longevity varies between individuals, but volume and contour treatments may last approximately twelve to eighteen months. Duration is influenced by factors such as individual anatomy, facial movement patterns, metabolism, lifestyle factors and the specific product selected.
At The Manor Clinic, we use industry-leading products chosen for their safety profile, structural integrity and superior longevity. Product selection is tailored to the treatment area and your individual anatomy to support natural looking, long lasting results. -
Yes, certain volume and contour treatments can be dissolved in specific circumstances. In most non-urgent situations, we recommend waiting at least four weeks after your initial treatment. This allows swelling to fully settle and gives the product time to integrate with the surrounding tissue, as early concerns often resolve naturally during this period.
After four weeks, your practitioner can reassess the treated area and determine whether dissolving is clinically appropriate. Dissolving is considered on a case-by-case basis and may be recommended for concerns such as persistent lumpiness, asymmetry, overcorrection or dissatisfaction once results have stabilised.
If dissolving is performed, we typically advise waiting a further two weeks before considering re-treatment. This allows the tissue to recover, inflammation to settle and the area to be accurately reassessed prior to any additional treatment.
It is important to note that dissolving is a medical procedure and, like all interventions, carries potential risks. Your practitioner will discuss these with you and ensure dissolving is only undertaken when it is safe and appropriate. In rare circumstances where there is a medical concern, such as compromised blood flow, dissolving may be required urgently and managed accordingly.
If you have concerns at any stage, we encourage you to contact the clinic so your practitioner can provide personalised advice and guidance. -
Domestic air travel is generally safe following treatment, as shorter flight times are unlikely to significantly affect swelling or bruising. For international flights, we recommend waiting one to four days post treatment where possible, to allow swelling and bruising to settle. Changes in cabin pressure and prolonged periods of sitting can sometimes increase swelling or discomfort in recently treated areas.
If you are planning to travel soon after your appointment, please inform The Manor Clinic. This is particularly important if travelling to destinations where medical oversight or access to care may be limited, so your practitioner can provide tailored advice based on your treatment and travel plans.
